Welcome to Friends of The Winns Primary
Who are we?
We are you! If you are a parent of a child at The Winns Primary School or a member of staff at the school, you're automatically a Friends of The Winns Primary member - your membership begins on your child's first day at the school and ends when your last child leaves us. Being part of Friends of The Winns Primary is also a great way of meeting people and to find out what’s going on throughout the whole school.
What do we do?
We have fun! Our main aim is to support the whole school community, bringing together parents, staff and students. We also raise funds to purchase equipment and provide facilities for the children that are not normally paid for by the Local Authority.
Calendar for 2021 summer term
Our aim is to celebrate and punctuate the school calendar with events, fundraisers and arts projects. Here are some of the events we are planning over the next few months:
Dance your socks off danceathon: Friday 25th June
Sponsor your children to take part in this great fun event. It will be a non uniform day so get them to dress in their brightest clothes and socks with no holes! They’ll be prizes up for grabs and stickers and certificates for taking part.

The Winns Young Artist exhibition: 7th & 8th July

The End of Term Friends of the Winns Raffle: Friday 16th July
Winning tickets will be draw during school time and delivered to the children in their classes.
Ticket purchase will be available online nearer the time.

We are currently raising funds to transform one of the school’s playgrounds into an outdoor classroom to give better play and educational opportunities for the whole school. We have raised £12k towards our £40k total.

This year’s Community Day took place on Saturday, 6th July. Even though the sun wasn't shining, lots of people came along to join in the event and to have a good time. We raised a whopping £2,560!
All money raised on our Community Day, Christmas events and during the year enabled us to reach our target of £5,000 to pay for the 20 Chromebooks for use in the school.
A big Winns thankyou to all the parents and staff of the Friends of The Winns for organising and running the day. Everybody’s hard work certainly paid off.
What can you do to help?
We need people who can spare a small amount of their time to help the us. Can you make coffee? Bake a cake? Count money? Listen to a child read? There are a huge number of ways you can be part of Friends of The Winns Primary – either as a committee member or on an ad-hoc basis.
We want to hear from you!
We welcome anyone who wants to get involved. You can help out at specific events, like our Community Day, or volunteer on an ad-hoc basis. We need all types of skills from running a stall and folding paper to sourcing gifts for a raffle. Go on, get involved!
