Royal Institution Science Shows
We would like to say a big thankyou to everybody who came along to the Royal Institution Science show on Wednesday 22nd May. The audience was wowed by a series of science demonstrations that included the odd bang or two! The highlight of the after-school show was the wonderful array of colours that was produced by the burning of jelly baby sweets. (Now for the technical explanation). This demonstration involved putting a jelly baby into molten potassium chlorate. The reaction showed the oxidation of the sugar in the jelly baby. Amazing!
